Kelly Culpepper

Kelly Culpepper
Kelly has worked as a geologist, cartographer and earned an MFA in Photography from the University of Florida where he studied with Jerry Uelsmann. His 25 year career covers all aspects of the medium and includes: shooting feature stories for magazines like Smithsonian, cover stories for Forbes and BusinessWeek, corporate annual reports, assignments for book publishers, and an extensive involvement in stock photography. He has taught at the university level and exhibited his work through various venues. He currently teaches during the Ringling College of Art and Design's Wildacres Summer/Fall sessions. Kelly has created and led dozens of groups on photo workshops including multi-week junkets to Ireland and Nova Scotia. Tim Buchman

Tim Buchman
(2009 Faculty Member) Tim is one of the South's preeminent architectural photographers and has produced several books including North Carolina Architecture, (Katherine Bisher/UNC Press), Sticks and Stones; Threes Centuries of NC Gravemarkers, (M. Ruth Little/UNC Press), George Washington Architect, (Allan Greenberg/Papadakis Publishers), as well as numerous others. Tim's work has also appeared in publications such as Architectural Record, Progressive Architecture, and Historic Preservation. He received a BFA in Photography from Ohio University and a post-graduate degree from the Ohio Institute of Photography. Having abandoned the 4x5 camera some years ago, Tim's current work involves the complex use of layers, HDR and elaborate masking and compositing edits in Photoshop. Tim has traveled extensively in Italy and continues to develop an ongoing series of landscape images from the regions of Tuscany, Umbria, Sicily and most recently, Puglia. www.timbuchman.com



Charles Johnson

Charles Johnson
Charlotte photographer and artist, Charles Johnson, began his career after earning his Photofinishing Specialist Diploma from Randolph Community College in Asheboro, NC. While involved with the Professional Photographers of America, he earned the Master of Photography degree through professional print competitions, lectures, and seminars incorporating his landscape photography. He is currently the owner of Charles Johnson Custom Color, Inc, a local custom photofinishing lab he established in 1995. Charles' passion for photographing the landscape began while in high school in Boone, NC. Since then, he has traveled extensively throughout the world, primarily Hawaii, Nova Scotia, and the Rocky Mountains of Canada. His work is held in individual and corporate collections including IBM, PYA Monarch, AT&T, and Collins & Aikman. He served on the board of the Light Factory for several years and has conducted numerous workshops and lectures for them.



Gary Kerr

Gary Kerr
Gary Kerr is a technical wizard in the digital printmaking industry. He is a Photoshop user since 1989 and has a vast knowledge of digital workflow and color management concepts. Before his transition to printmaking, Gary worked as an IT and prepress consultant for large corporate clients like Standard and Poors, McGraw-Hill, American Express and American Century. Gary started Fine Art Impressions, a nationally-recognized digital/giclee print studio in Boston where he was the "go to" digital printmaker for the Boston artist community. He moved his business to Davidson, NC in 2003. Gary's expertise is in printmaking, scanning and in photographing artwork for his artist clients using the Better Light digital scan back. Well-known throughout the trade, Gary is often quoted and interviewed by publications such as Art World News, Art Business News, and Wide Format Imaging. His clients include photographers, painters and museums. He recently produced work for several Ritz-Carlton locations as well as The Philadelphia Musem of Art and the Louvre in Paris. www.fineartgiclee.com



Jeff Willhelm

Jeff Willhelm
Jeff Willhelm has been a staff photographer and photo editor with the Charlotte Observer for 28 years. His beat has been the Observer Western Bureau, which includes many areas of the North Carolina mountains, (Caldwell, Catawba, and Burke County for instance). Jeff attended NC State and studied aerospace engineering but got the photography bug and ultimately joined the Navy and became a photojournalist, covering military life and Spanish culture while stationed in Rota, Spain. Following that, he was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga, his primary duty being flight deck photographer, shooting air operations and mishaps. Rob Bousa

Rob Bousa
Rob Bousa is a native of the Czech Republic. He received a graduate degree in Economics and Management while studying at the Technical University, Brno and the Tomas Bata University in Zlin. He became interested in art photography while studying in Prague. He is a commercial photographer and freelance assistant in Charlotte.
